Positive Psychology
There are many challeges that we face in every day life. Sometimes, they're easy to get rid of, you simply forget about them and well, they're gone. On the other hand sometimes getting past things isn't so simple. You may stuggle with them for years and still may not be able to get passed them. So you decide to go get a counsellor. Now where do you go since they use different types of therapy and methods to move you from being stuck? Part of what your looking for is something that is counter to what you're used to and what your accoustomed to. One of the well known methods of doing this is by behavior therapy. Often in this, you simply are walked through changing your behavior. If you're heavy, you simple eat right and exercise and the problem is solved. If you can't control your drinking, then don't drink. That is an example of doing the opposite of what you're accustomed to. A different type of therapy is from positive psychology. It's a concept that most people have either never heard of or know next to nothing about. This type of approach can be very effective and is discussed below.
What is positive psychology
What positive therapy or positive psychology does is to find out what things you do well, and helps you to expand on those and focus on those things. Conversely, it helps you to not look at those things that you do poorly or to focus on them. This many sound silly or condesending, but if you stop and think about it, most people don't know what they do well. In fact, most will sit there and put themselves down if you give them a complement. Things that you can consider and look at, may be some of the following; are you a good cleaner, organizer or do you learn things quickly? These are examples of things that you can expand on and learn how to not only develop them further, but also what are your core values and what are your adaptive skills and traits? Don't worry, if you don't know what these are right now, that's what positive psychology helps you to find out and build upon. That makes them your building blocks for a bigger, better, stronger and more productive life. It will help you to move from being stuck to being productive.
And then what?
So, you now know what your positive traits are, now what? Well, you will be trained and taught how to use them. With part of the end goal to be more possitive and less negative. You probably already know that most people have no clue as to what there strengths are, they're used to being told how bad they are. Most people can give you a run down of all the things that their weak in. Like being short, fat, ugly hair, stupid and the list goes on. The reverse is also true, most people have trouble and are in fact challenged, to list things that they do well. What the counsellor that is trained in positive therapy does is to help you reverse this and make the negative less in power, and the positive things become the focal point. What this does is to allows you to focus on your strengths, what you do well, and in turn allow for your weaknesses to diminish and fall away.
So, can you benefit from positive psychology, the answer is yes you can!

Very interesting hub on my favorite topic. Its true that most people have not found or do not know what they are good at. I have came across many people who I gave a compliment to and in response would put their selves down, pointing out a weakness.
